Bloomberg Terminal Policy
- Only University of Utah students, faculty, and staff may reserve the Bloomberg Professional Workstation.
- Use of the Bloomberg professional workstation is for educational purposes only.
- Commercial use can lead to individual Bloomberg accounts being terminated. Use of this terminal for commercial purposes will result in Bloomberg terminating the service in our library.
- Please move to a different computer if you are using other resources not related to Bloomberg.
- Marriott Library Security (801-581-8600) is responsible for enforcing these policies
How to Reserve t he Bloomberg Professional Workstation
- Go to the J. Willard Marriott Library website and click on the Services tab.
- Under the “Technology & Spaces” section of the window that opens, choose “Study Spaces.”
- Enter “Bloomberg” into the search box.
- Click on the red “Reserve” button under the Bloomberg heading and log in.
- In the window that opens, scroll down to the date when you would like to reserve the Bloomberg Terminal, and find the name in the list of available classrooms. Highlight the time you would like to reserve the Bloomberg Terminal.
- Fill in the required reservation information in the window that opens and click the Create button to confirm your reservation. Otherwise, another person might reserve the terminal and you will be required to give up your seat immediately.
You may only reserve the terminal for ½ hour (30 minutes) and only for two consecutive half hour blocks in the same day. If, after that time another person has not reserved the terminal or arrived to use it, you may continue to use it. You must give up your seat immediately if someone does reserve it or has the terminal scheduled.

To get Bloomberg training, create a Bloomberg account and then enter TRAI in the top navigation box and click the Enter button. Fill out the box that opens to request training. *Note: You must remember you Bloomberg login and password to access training options.
Users can also access the Basic Marketing Concepts (BMC) certificate by logging into the Bloomberg Terminal and running > in the command line. On the top left of the screen that opens, click "Sign up" and then follow the prompts, which will launch into a web browser where the modules are housed. After the account is created and for future logins, please run > , click "Log in," and then click 'Login with SSO'.

Bloomberg is a financial news service founded by Michael Bloomberg in 1981. It provides financial news and data to financial companies and organizations in virtually every country in the world through the Bloomberg terminal, The main function of the Bloomberg terminal is to provide an integrated platform that streams together price data, financials, news, trading data, and more. Use this database to obtain global financial and business information on various market sectors, including e quities, indices, corporate debts, sovereign and agency securities, commodities, f utures, options, hedge funds, foreign currencies, etc.
